He has more than 10 years of hands-on experience at the interface of low carbon transformation policy, enterprise development, corporate sustainability and communications. Before joining Shell, he was responsible for delivering bespoke communications for UK and international clients as the Lead Sustainability Consultant at a London-based communications agency. His eight years with EY and Deloitte saw him coordinating a wide range of sustainability projects in Russia and Kazakhstan, including impact assessments of entrepreneurship programmes, development of green economy policies and engaging oil and gas companies on sustainability. In his spare time, Alex enjoys exploring new places, researching into Central Asian culture and learning languages (currently Brazilian Portuguese).
Shell Springboard Support Team Lead
Adam is the main point of contact on the Shell Springboard team for applicants and is responsible for overseeing the assessment process. Adam leads a small team providing day-to-day support for applicants to the programme and has worked in this role for 4 years.
Adam’s favourite part of the Shell Springboard programme is the telephone interviews: “While this can be a nervy stage for the applicants, you really get a sense of the enthusiasm and incredible hard work that goes into low-carbon business ideas.”
When not working on the Shell Springboard programme, Adam is a Senior Consultant at energy and sustainability consultancy Verco advising FTSE250 companies and government departments on climate change and energy policy, energy efficiency and environmental reporting. In his free time Adam enjoys running, cycling and teaching Maths and Physics to GCSE and A-level students.
Shell Springboard Support Officer
Sara is a member of the Shell Springboard support team and provides day-to-day guidance for applicants. She has worked on the programme since 2006 and has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of Shell Springboard programme alumni!
Sara’s favourite part of the programme is speaking to past winners of the programme and catching up on their progress since receiving funding from Shell: “It’s great to hear the success stories – they all say how much the programme has helped them.”
Sara is a Consultant at Verco with a focus on policy compliance and environmental reporting. In her spare time, Sara enjoys travelling, watching rugby (and travelling overseas to watch games), baking, reading, meals out with friends and music.

Saadia is a member of the Shell Springboard support team and provides day-to-day guidance for applicants to the programme. Saadia is a Junior Consultant at Verco and has recently completed an EngD at the University of Reading looking at energy management in multi-use venue buildings. In her free time Saadia enjoys exploring new places, especially if there is a lot of history there. She is also an avid baker and especially likes baking for big occasions such as birthdays and weddings.
